In Memory

Larry Oldfield
December 21, 1944- March 18, 2017

It is with great regret that we mourn the loss of a dear colleague and friend Lawrence E. Oldfield who passed away March 18, 2017. He was sincerely loved by many including his wife Kaaren, his daughters, Kim Oosterhouse and Lauren, and grandchildren Kyle and Lindsey Oosterhouse. Larry Oldfield will be remembered by his clients as a compassionate and thoughtful attorney and will be missed by those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

Larry was born December 21, 1944, in Lake Forest, Illinois and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He lived in Glen Ellyn, IL with his beloved wife of 43 years, Kaaren. Mr. Oldfield was an enthusiastic lover of classical piano; he had the honor of playing the Hungarian Rhapsody at Carnegie Hall with his revered piano teacher. A United States Army Veteran and Federal Agent for HUD, Mr. Oldfield embraced public service.

Larry Oldfield attended Long Island University, as well as Wheaton College. While at Wheaton College he participated in an archaeology expedition to Jordan at the Near East School of Archaeology. He received his B.A. from Northern Illinois University and his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. Larry had an extensive list of bar admissions that include:

  • U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Oklahoma
  • U.S. District Court, District of Nebraska
  • U.S. District Court, Western District of Wisconsin and U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit
  • U.S. Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit
  • U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit
  • U.S. Supreme Court, 1979; Federal Trial Bar
  • U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit
  • Illinois and U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois

Larry Oldfield joined John P. Stock, III and Kurt A. Carlson to form Stock, Carlson & Asso. LLC in 2015. He and Mr. Carlson had been friends and professional colleagues for over 30 years. Mr. Oldfield concentrated on business law, real estate transactions, wills and trusts, as well as civil litigation. Adept at all styles of litigation, he litigated over a dozen recorded cases and continuously received the highest possible peer review rating (AV-Preeminent) from Martindale-Hubbell. During his professional tenure, Mr. Oldfield acted as both Vice-President and President of the Executives Breakfast Club of Oak Brook and served on its Board of Governors.

Though the world has truly lost a beautiful person, talented attorney, and devoted family man, we know he would want us to celebrate his legacy of providing extraordinary legal service to our clients. To honor Larry's life and accomplishments, our firm will continue to provide compassionate, insightful, relentless legal representation for all of your needs.
